Arab – Byzantine coin from the 7th century AD.
Obverse: Crowned imperial bust facing, holding globe with cross; KAΛON downwards to left, “bi-hims” in Arabic to right.
Reverse: Large letter M, star flanked by two annulets above, EMI to left, CHC to right, “tayyib” (meaning “good”) in Arabic in exergue.
Mint city: Minted at Homs, Syria (also known as Emesa).
Materials and method: Struck in bronze from engraved dies.
Dimensions: 21 mm diameter
Weight: 3.60gm
Date minted: Circa late 7th century AD, during the Umayyad Caliphate.
Condition: Very Fine with earthen patina.
